What's new

so what are you thinking right now?

Home from work early :)

My job is frustrating me and DS is off school so plan to spend some time with him...tough week in the life of a 16 year old.

To go back to bed or not.................that is the question...............
hahaha, no, not you. or maybe you. too! aren't you too young for going back to bed? it was valerie and her peeling face. the kids over here only have a half day, yea! now to drag the lil boy that despises leaving the house to the grocery store................i might have to leave him home alone. i need stuffs!!!!

Back to Chicago again this weekend for my nephews bday. And istead of packing and cleaning the car and doing laundry and cleaning the kitchen, and everything else that needs to get done, I'm browsing cw.

Nah! I promote everyone should go back to bed! :bliss:

Why do your kids have half a day? I'm half waiting for my DS9 to call from school. He's been coughing some, but I didn't think he was bad enough to stay home. I told him if he feels worse, to call me and I'll pick him up.

Had my first facial peel on Monday night. I"m having an adverse reaction to the Retinol, not a pretty sight.

Red and a LOT of peeling? Totally normal. Don't exfoliate to speed up the process, it'll make your skin worse and it'll feel more sensitive after that. Give it a few (5 ish?) more days and you'll be LOVING your skin!!! It'll be softer than you can ever ever remember! Where'd ya go for that?

So to lucyrevenge and reporter - I agree with you ladies! I don't envy you and the diffiulties you have!

Last night I was so upset at DD4. DH gave her his iPhone to play with while I was grocery shopping. When I got home, he was running a bath for them, and called her into the bathroom several times and she never looked up. I finally took the phone from her and said, "Did you hear that Daddy is calling you to go into the bathtub?" She was okay still at that point.

As soon as she got out of the tub again, she went straight for DH's phone again, which I'm not fond of her playing any video games at ALL. I warned her for 20 minutes that bedtime was coming up, "20 minutes until bedtime", and then every 5 minutes a reminder how much time was left until one minute left.

When it was time she completely ignored me. I counted 7 times I told her to put the phone down, it's time for bed. Then I took the phone from her hand and she FLIPPED out. I calmly told her, "I know you're upset but it's time for bed and you've been playing for almost an hour and you've been warned that bedtime was coming up."

Do you know what she told me?? "You look ridiculous when you look like that." I don't know exactly what she meant, but I was floored. My jaw dropped, and I asked her what she meant by that. She said, "Well I still kind of like you, but you just look ridiculous."

**** hit the fan. She went to bed without her favorite stuffed animal and a good laying into her. I would have put soap in her mouth but just brushed her teeth and there was no way I was going to brush them again I was too pissed.

I told her that I would NEVER speak that way to my parents EVER. I'm going to discipline her more strictly now with soap in the mouth or spankings. I don't care if it's not a popular method anymore, I sure had some **** respect growing up, which this kid obviously doesn't have and if I don't do something about it, that's only going to get worse with age.

Sorry for the rant.

Ugh....I should be doing all the same things too. We'll probably pass you driving on our way down to St. Louis.

red I'm sorry, but that made me

She obviously heard that somewhere and prolly doesn't really get what she said.

I will say this.................if I could go back and change one thing, I would NOT have gotten my kids started on video games (gameboy and DS) so soon because that's how they get. They're so into the damned game that they ignore you and they become so consumed with it that everytime you tell them to do something else, it's a fight. IMO talk with your DH and get him to agree to no more games on the phone for her.

i have no idea why, the high schoolers are off all day. i am having trouble adjusting to two different schools with seemingly different schedules. usually when the middle schoolers are half day, the high school has all day. and sometimes late start, i have no clue what late start is good for.

linkin I'll meet you at Popeye's in an hour for some cheddar broccoli soup for lunch kay?

Hey red -

What mrsmom is on point. Most kids that age are just regurgitating things they have heard/seen & often out of context. I always try to find out where they are pulling the bs from so I can eliminate the problem altogether if possible. Sometimes its a new friend at school or an errant adult or something heard on TV. I also like to make sure the kid understands why they are being punished so I have them explain in their words what they did wrong.

If you just tell a kid everything you want them to do because "mommy/daddy said so" they'll listen....for now, but once the threat of physical repercussions is gone all hell can break loose. Just my personal thoughts.... Don't mean to tell you how to run your world or anything. I'm cool if you wanna tell me to mind your business! :giggles:

Guess this depends on how you were raised. I'd go back to being a kid, if I could get dibs on another family.

Ok you find the time machine and we'll go back to my parents house.............life was good there. :cartwheel:

Our parish school doesn't have school because last night was Confirmation so they just gave everyone the day off, coupled with Monday for President's day. Of course we don't go to the parish school, so my kids are all dragging cuz the service was long. I know at least 2 of my kids are off Monday but I have to work.

I hope you have a wonderful time :stretch: Haven't noticed lately, but I hope you're all healthy and done with whatever that was you had going on :foryou:

mrsmom gets MY sleep for me  cause I don't :surrender:

mrsred...... you GOTTA stop her from watching Jersey Shore, I'm telling ya :snicker:

but seriously, i think most things are ok in moderation... video games too.... when the parent says it's time to stop in 5 minutes, just take it away , arguing doesn't help anything ... all it does it gets you worked up.... be consistent .... eventually the kid will know you MEAN it and do it your way without arguing (well, hopefully)

I couldn't begin to guess the source of that, maybe tv but who knows. She is a VERY bright girl and sometimes it makes things more difficult in raising her - it just seems like she is growing up so dang fast. :(

DH started to get her into video games on the X-Box and I put a stop to that very quickly. DH is a couch potato and my kids are close enough to lazy, they watch too much tv. So now they get these ****ty apps to "bake cupcakes" and Lord knows whatever else garbage games are on there. It doesn't help that half of the games are DH's -he's playing games on there about as much as I'm on here.

Hey at least I get something out of here. What is it with men and video games? They're fun and all but jeez there's more to life than what's in that stupid 52" box in the living room!
