One is a 'normal' type dog. A black lab that has been in the shelter for months. She was spayed in September, is over 7 years old and was given up because the owners children 'have gone off to college'. The poor lady at the shelter heard my rant about that. I only hope their children put them in a new home and forget about them. This dog hates cats- so do I. Ummm, it appears to be sad but it is probably because she has been there awhile. We still have to bring our dogs to meet her and see if they get along.


The other one is at a different dog pound. This is some type of bearded terrier type thing. Malnourished, found on the street in a busy town. THe officer who I talked to said he was snapping at him when he tried to put a leash on him. Not a leash per say but one of those metal things with a noose like thing at the end. We have been looking at him for a few weeks and only when we put in an application for him did they try to get a leash on him. So, we have gone there quite a few times and the CO put him on hold because he has been snapping. I talked to him and I said- he is just deathly afraid of the noose thing. THe guy looked at me like I was stupid. Ummm, ok. I was able to give him a treat through the bars and he was so very gentle. After awhile, one of the chickies decided that she would try to 'work' with him. Oddly enough, when he was away from the other 20 braking dogs, he was 'such a sweetie!!". We still have to have out dogs meet him but it will get him out of he is going to be put down row.

Love my neighborhood more now than ever! I decided to go trick-or-treating with DS despite the cold, and I am glad I did. The neighbors on the different cul-de-sacs gather at several of the houses around fire pits and each give out candy, so the kids don't have to walk to all of the houses and the adults hang out. Love the neighborly love! Also, the firetruck/firemen were here handing out candy and glow bracelets and there was a guy who connected a trailer to his 4 wheeler to give wagon rides to the kids.

Looks as though a fire pit may be on on Christmas list!
 
Wishing I didn't have a house full of kids right now. Why is it my house every year for Halloween festivities and sleep over? I'm a sucker.

Watching Fraiser rerun....episode where Fraiser is trying to practical joke Bulldog scare him with the zombies.....man, I love this show. It never gets old.

In my frustration I didn't post why I'm having such a bad day and feeling so low. Monday night after Awana Lex came home, said his tummy hurt, sat down with the Kindle Fire and immediately puked all over the Kindle and the chair. Had him run into the bathroom and told him to get sick in there while I corral the dog into her crate so that she doesn't "help" clean up.

Go into the bathroom to find Lex has very neatly continued throwing up - in the sink. Hmm, failed parenting 101 where barf goes in the toilet, not the sink. So now there is barf on the chair, the kindle, in a stream from the chair to the bathroom and the sink is plugged.

Have Lex strip down and get him in the shower and into bed. Head downstairs and wash the Kindle cause I have no idea what else to do. Yes, this is the same Kindle that was already washed by Lex last week and had to have intensive resuscitation to get working after that bath. Take the cushion cover off the chair, clean the other parts of the chair that can't be removed, clean the floor and get whatever I can into the rinse cycle in the washer. Tackle the sink by, well never mind what I did, but eventually get it unclogged.

By this time Lex is back in the other bathroom and now I have to change his bed and clean the carpets. Put him to bed on a floor pillow while I do that (change the bed, but not yet get to the carpets) and start laundry load #2. Just get the bed made and he doesn't even wake up when he's sick again so the floor pillow, towel and sheets/blankets will be laundry load #3.

Get him in bed, have no clue what time it is, but figure the worst has to be over. Nope, he's still not waking up when he's sick and I do the "put him to bed on the floor" thing and change the bed again. Still haven't got to cleaning the carpets but I'm exhausted. Can't sleep as every little noise I'm convinced he's getting sick again (and going to choke to death) so I go running into his bedroom.

It is light out before he's sleeping peacefully and I get an hour or two of sleep before Lawson is up. Have them both all day Tuesday while I try and doze and get some water into Lex. Whatever it was that he had is done, he's fine, just not hungry but he's willing to drink water.

Tuesday night he doesn't want to go to bed as he had a long nap during the day. Finally get him to go, but again, with every little sound I'm running into his room convinced that he's choking to death.

Then comes about what I wrote earlier, but I'm trying to cope on only a few hours of sleep since Sunday night. At one point today I'm sitting at my desk desperately trying not to cry because I can't remember where to find some configuration options in our application. Of course my boss comes by at that point, says "Woah, are you OK" and I lose the battle on not crying.

Make it through to 3pm and start to head to daycare. Realize that I have put the spare flashlight batteries (the ones the size of a matchhead) in the Halloween "take out containers" with the kids candy that I left at daycare this morning. Call the day care in a panic thinking that one of the kids will try and eat them, but fortunately they haven't given out the treat baskets yet. Also realize that I forgot to add the Wendy's coupons to the baskets and I'm not even sure where I put those. The tears start again as I'm driving home.

The other parent's are leaving as I arrive (party is over) but on the drive home I find the Wendy's coupons in my bag, so hand those out on the spot. Ends up that I'm too late to meet with the first group of friends so just go to second stop. That great neighbourhood I wrote about has been decimated by foreclosures. Two of the four best houses are bank owned (empty) and a number of other homes are empty as well. Lex still ended up with an overflowing bucket of candy, but none of the extra touches (like one of the adults running around with a chainsaw - chainless of course) are there.

On the up side, my friends took Lex out with their kids while I fed Lawson and then we traded off so I was out with Lex while one of my friends was in the house with Lawson. We still got dinner and I got to chill as everyone was wanting to help me with Lawson and Lex was off playing with the other kids.

I am so glad today is over and I don't have anything planned for the next two days.

For now - off to bed and hopefully some real sleep. Everything will be better once I'm no longer smack up against the wall exhausted.
 
canadia- puke of any kind anywhere is horrible. I hope your day(s) get better from here. And if you need an evening to rest, polp the kids infront of the tv for awhile and don't think twice about it

Oh man Liz, I know that feeling all too well. Both kids got sick like that. We let them sleep with us because we were afraid of them choking too. It was awful, thank goodness for my DH because barf is the one thing that really gets me. I can deal with it if I had to but it really gets me bad.

If you need a break to rest, we are close by. Drop off kiddos or one of us could come by and watch them. Running on no sleep is the worst.

Yeah, I do OK until I get really really short on sleep. Didn't sleep again last night, I was still worried about Lex even though he has been perfectly fine since the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Fortunately today and tomorrow I'm in training (yes I'm multitasking during the training) so it will be easier on me. The coffee is kicking in now, which helps.

I knew that you guys would understand and prop me up and I wouldn't have to worry about crying again (although I didn't) and not able to get everything out.

I'm thinking a restaurant will be making dinner tonight. I can't even think of something to cook. I'm thinking Tamale's from the Mexican place that is in the strip mall on Lake St near whatever street. Gesh - can't remember the name of the restaurant or the cross street. Going to make it tough to call ahead and place my order. :giggle:

I hope so, he's got great taste. I could easily just send him a check (at some point) an inspiration board and not give it another thought till I got off the plane :lol:
 
Just checked out pinterest and it appears Thanksgiving is in full swing - I've seen turkey shaped veggie & fruit platters, how to decorate my (non-existant) porch for harvest, and how to make popcorn in a bag that looks like a turkey (huh?).
