The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots.

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

OK, I was being sarcastic but I guess in fact you haven't been paying attention. Direct from the HHS site:
A statement by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius

In August 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services issued an interim final rule that will require most health insurance plans to cover preventive services for women including recommended contraceptive services without charging a co-pay, co-insurance or a deductible.

The testimony of Ms Fluke was concerning access to said coverage in insurance plans that the students pay for. The hearings in front of Congress were about religious-affiliated institutions having to offer the coverage in their insurance plans. All of the controversy is about whether or not they offer it, not that it is free.

On August 1, 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) adopted additional Guidelines for Women’s Preventive Services – including well-woman visits, support for breastfeeding equipment, contraception, and domestic violence screening – that will be covered without cost sharing in new health plans starting in August 2012.

OK, I guess we slipped into facts again so like many on the left you got uncomfortable. You DID say "Nobody has asked for it to be covered for free". I guess if the definition of nobody excludes those who crafted the legislation that is being debated then....no, you'd still be wrong.

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

She probably has loans and possibly scholarships and grants that take care of tuition. She may not have a lot of money after everything is said and done. Also, where are you getting the $120-200 figure from?

I am getting the $120 figure from my local pharmasist who said he carries about 30 different types of pills for under $10 and hes not a big chain and then I threw in $80 worth of condoms for a whole lotta sex......

None of the people that you have mentioned have asked for free coverage. They have just asked for coverage.

The recommendations were made by the Institute of Medicine based on scientific studies and the Dept HHS has decided to enact them.

While women are more likely to need preventive health care services, they often have less ability to pay. On average they have lower incomes than men and a greater share of their income is consumed by out-of-pocket health costs. A report by the Commonwealth Fund found that in 2009 more than half of women delayed or avoided preventive care because of its cost, as compared to one-quarter of women in 2007. Removing cost sharing requirements improves women’s access to important preventive services. In fact, one study found that the rate of women getting a mammogram went up as much as 9% when cost sharing was removed.

People aren't up in arms about the STI testing or the HIV testing that will now be covered for free, so this is all about women being able to decide if they want to have a child or not. My DH and I used birth control during the first years of our marriage because we weren't ready to have kids yet. It was covered free by the government because we were military. I don't see Rush demanding that military wives post videos of them having sex since the government is paying for their birth control.

They may not have asked for it but apparently the prez wants to give it to them anyway. Such a great guy. :sar:(just in case it's needed)

Is that with insurance or without. I am honestly curious. I have had insurance for a long time and don't know what it is like to be without it.

I don't know if the $3000 figure that Ms Fluke used is accurate. She did say it was for the entire time of being in law school.

I guess from what I read at HHS website, condoms would probably have to be covered since they are FDA-approved contraception.

Seriously? People advocating for a policy mandating free coverage of contraceptives are not asking for free coverage? I'm not sure this discussion is worth continuing.

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

They have not been saying to needs to be free. The issue is whether insurance will cover it because not all insurance plans cover contraception even when prescribed for reasons other than contraception.

The (pending parts of the) law requires that it be covered with no copay. Free.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient_Protection_and_Affordable_Care_Act

Woman-specific preventive services that will be covered without cost sharing include gestational diabetes screening, well-woman visits, female contraceptives and contraceptive counseling, and breastfeeding support and supplies[155].

I get what you are saying. I do and maybe I am parsing a bit, but to say that Nancy Pelosi is asking for free contraception for supporting the policy implies an intent that wasn't there. The Dept of HHS adopted the policy mandating the coverage and the President and other support that. I guess to me asking means that the president went to HHS and asked them to put this in there.

So perhaps I am parsing a bit.

The issue that was brought up before Congress was the one of religious freedom. For religiously-affliated employers having to comply with the mandate. That was what the hearings were about. It was not about whether the mandate was right or wrong, that is another issue. It was about who has to comply. I think it was appropriate for someone going to a Jesuit institution where the insurance does not cover contraception for medical reasons without having to fight for it to give an opinion. I don't think she should be called names for it.

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

I don't see why that's such a problem for the racist right--wouldn't contraception prevent unwanted brown babies? Aren't the illegals and welfare recipients the bane of the racist right's existence? The reason for high unemployment, health care and crime rates? Isn't this one of Rush's main talking points? Thank God **** don't need birth control--think of that **** of a topic........

JRL which of us do you think is racist? :bee:

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

Pay attention. :tap: Porn is acceptable. Having

Calling a woman a **** is conservative? Not where I come from. Nice conservative God fearing Republican men don't speak about or to women that way.

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

Nice men don't speak about or to women that way.

Doesn't matter if they are liberal, conservative, Democrats, GOP, independents, believers or atheists...

How would you feel if someone called you, your mom or daughter that?

When was the last time your dad, brother, son, or SO called a woman that?

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

I totally agree that Rush went way over the top but I don't recall anyone making this much stink when Maher called Palin a c***; which I find way more degrading than ****. I agree, we as women should not put up with this but it should not be tolerated by anyone not just who the media decides to shine the spotlight on.

did we have a thread about that? I was repulsed by it as were a lot of people here I'm sure. Also, I'm not sure when 2 wrongs started making a right. My road map doesn't go in that direction.

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

Yea but she is a c***. She owns it.

We are MUCH stronger than words thought up by tiny men!

I think Maher is a troll in the same way I think Rush is a troll. Doesn't matter which side of the politcal spectrum they fall on. Disgusting behavior from sad little men.

That word used to bother me until my DH spent a day playing Xbox with some British guys with the speakers on. They used is as a adjective, every third word was calling someone a c**ty ****. It was really funny, ever since then the word just doesn't bug me.

Re: The big fat idiot is at it again, but calling him an idiot is insulting to idiots

We had to have a "talk" with our young English soccer trainer...

Red HAWT by the way! He can call me a c***ty **** any time!

I actually searched on here but couldn't find anything so I don't remember. And when did I say two wrongs make a right???? I don't think it was right at all.
