What do we think: Joe Paterno

I applaud Nike. No one should be honored who would put a sport before a childs welfare.

Don't clap too loudly...here's what his pal at Nike had to say:

"According to the investigation, it appears Joe made missteps that led to heartbreaking consequences."

Missteps?!?!

Missteps?!?!

OK I'm now booing. WTF? Missteps? He put a sport before those kids and should have from the beginning picked up the phone and called the police to protect them (that was the misstep). There sure are some idiots out there.

I hope this M f'er is burning in hell right now. He took this horrible secret to the grave with him and that's not fair. I think they're all guilty. I can't believe a grown **** man would see something like this happening and not rip Sandusky's **** off themselves. They were all cowards imo

They were worse than cowards, they aided & abetted Sandusky's perverted abuse of children all because of a ****ing GAME. Sandusky was/is sick [and evil], but they just didn't give 2 ****s about the lives of those young boys. They KNEW better, but didn't care. Football was more important. They should be tortured and then put to death AFAIAC. They didn't even have the ****ed excuse of mental illness, they KNEW right from wrong and didn't care. They decided to ignore the consequences, they did not care about the lives of those boys. All because Sandusky could help them win a few freaking GAMES.

Games are what children should play, adults should know better. Adults should know what priorities matter, and it is NEVER a ****ing game over a child's life or welfare.

Paterno's son's defense of his dad yesterday made me want to puke. Paterno should be vilified. His legacy isn't winning football games, it's throwing aside the lives and welfare of young boys because of a game. His legacy was to allow at least 9 more boys' lives to be ruined. **** him.

I just wonder how they lived with themselves.

Its like they treated the situation like he was found masturbating or watching porn....or just found having sex at all on school property.

Ignore it, He's an adult and knows right from wrong (??), he will make good decisions going forward, it didn't hurt anyone?

I don't know how the school leaders could really treat it like it was just Sandusky's problem. These men have sons, I'm sure, most of them. They must have some strong blocking powers in their brains not to think about the child in this situation, for all these years.

I don't get why everyone who knew is not getting charged with something. IMO they aided him in every vile thing he did to a child after they knew.

The Joe Paterno statue was removed Sunday morning from its pedestal outside Beaver Stadium, and it will be stored in an unnamed "secure location," Penn State president Rodney Erickson announced. Erickson also said the Paterno name will remain on the university's library.

Shortly before dawn in State College, Pa., a work crew installed chain-link fences to barricade access to Porter Road outside Beaver Stadium and covered the fence with a blue tarp.

The work crew then removed the 7-foot, 900-pound bronze statue by forklift and placed it into the lower level of the stadium. Erickson released his highly sensitive decision to the public at 7 a.m. ET Sunday.

Penn State: 'A Source Of Division'

Penn State president Rodney Erickson, in a news release Sunday morning, called the Joe Paterno statue outside Beaver Stadium "an obstacle to healing in our University and beyond." Complete statement

Workers lifted the 7-foot-tall statue off its base and used a forklift to move it into Beaver Stadium as the 100 to 150 students watched, some chanting, "We are Penn State."

The decision came 10 days after a scathing report by former FBI director Louis J. Freeh found that Paterno, with three other top Penn State administrators, had concealed allegations of child sexual abuse made against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. The Freeh report concluded their motive was to shield the university and its football program from negative publicity.

Meanwhile, the NCAA said that that it would levy "corrective and punitive measures" against Penn State. The organization announced Sunday that it would spell out the sanctions on Monday but disclosed no details......
