So Windows 8.1 is on the way on Oct. 18th. The PC makers already have it. It will be free to existing Windows 8 users. I will update my Windows 8 rigs to it.
 
What's new with 8.1? I don't like Windows 8 at all, but I just recently got a new laptop, so I was stuck with it. Was going to downgrade back to Windows 7, but I figured that I might as well get used to 8 because it's not going anywhere.

I can't play any of my Sims games now. :( They're just not compatible.
 
I've always been pretty behind when it comes to the releases of PC systems. I'm still happily living with Windows 7, though I can proudly say I was so behind that I skipped straight past Vista. :P
 
Can't beat windows 7. But 2 of the computers I own are windows 8, so we'll see how it goes when the update is released. My gaming rig is still windows 7 though, and I plan to stick to it.
 
Most people are very happy with Windows 7. So I tell them they should stay with it.
 
I've used Windows 8 as my mother's laptop has it. I'm not impressed with it at all. It's bulky, slow, and so many things just flat out don't work with it.

In the event I buy a new computer, I'll be buying a Windows 7 disk as well.
 
I find Windows 8 faster than 7 in many areas. Most people can't get by the fact that the start button is gone. It is coming back but not like it was.
 
The tile system is my main complaint. It seems such a pointless addition on a non-touchscreen unit. I love the tile system on my cellphone, but on a computer it's just... meh.

It is kind of pointless on a non-touch unit. With Windows 8.1, you can have the unit boot to the other desktop. Well at least in the early release you can. I hope they don't change that.
 
I've found that most of the applications on the tile system just won't work. Period. I can't tell you how many I've opened that won't respond at all.
