What's new

ECW! ECW! ECW...?

I think it's on one of my last tapes. I started recording it weekly back in the summer of '95...so I started marking the tapes "ECW I" "ECW II" etc. I got up to 9 before it left Sports south.

That's awesome, where did you get the unedited version?

It's a commercial release... the 1st one they put out in stores, I cant remember the name of it right now, It's packed up with all of my old videos.

I think that if you aren't into the promos they are running for Punk then you are not likely to see what the deal is with him until you see him in a ppv match and who knows when that will be. At an hour ecdub really has no time to show matches of any length much less fleshout anybody's character. But if you are interested you could hunt some of his ROH stuff or youtube it.

And Aldo should be jobbing to anyone and everyone and liking it, but then again so should 90% of the guys filling out the ECW and Smackdown rosters..........

Man the WWF'nE is sucking right now.

heh..... I take everything you say about ECW, old and new with a grain of salt, since you've refered to Michaels and Hunter as being in your all time top ten. (and they're just human waste to me).... I like discussing wrestling with you because I respect your passion, and your knowledge...... not because I agree with too many of your opinions...... but that's what makes it fun..... I only enjoy discussing things with people who have a completely different point of view from mine. If we all just got together to stroke the ****s of the wrestlers we admire.... that would make us little more than the fanboys.. (in my case a fangirl?) that I detest.....

I'm drunk so I hope that what I just said came across as a compliment.... as I intended it to be...... Its a fine line for me to say.... "I disagree with most everything you say..... but I still respect your opinion..."

:p

Yeah who and what we both view as being quality in wrestling now and in the past is usually very different. We might agree on Flair and that's about it.

haha Yes like in Casablaca.....

"We'll always have Flair."

I guess its just what gets us "going" ..... I can appriciate a 30 minute match from Shawn Michaels..... but bare in mind.... I never got into WWF/E (period) until I was "forced" to watch it to see the "original" ECW "invasion" in 96? 97?

So that 30 minute Michaels match doesn't get my juices flowing like a 2 minute thumbtack and flaming table spot from Dreamer, New Jack the Dudleys.. Sandman....

And I will until my dying day SWEAR that Shane Douglas could out wrestle Michaels and pretty much anyone else!!!!

But also I was really into those killer matches that Whipwreck & Tajiri were having against the FBI (and everyone else) towards the end of ECW...... I think they contained more REAL quality wrestling than has been seen since Johnny Weaver was rolling up his opponants in the early 70s......

wow..... wouldnt ya love to see Johnny Valentine in ECW?

Ok.... I guess I'm hallucinating now. ... I guess its time for bed!

The Franchise is one of the best catch-as-catch-can/hold for hold wrestlers I've seen.
Taz is the best shootfighter/wrestler I've seen.
Too Cold Scorpio is the best arial wrestler I've seen.
Sabu is the best arial/extreme wrestler I've seen (And also my favorite wrestler)
And RVD is the best athletic wrestler I've seen.

Taz was da bomb yo and nobody wrestles the high impact style better than RVD and Sabu.

I think Scorpio was a great athlete but he is like a lot of wrestlers of that style to me just doing all of these big moves with no rhyme, reason or meaning.

And I will always think that Douglas was just a self-promoting overrated piece of crap.

I watched. And I got what I deserved for having a little hope. :\

More Punk, less Big Show (good gawd has he gotten awful), no more evil Heyman, and the main event...just too missy. Sabu was off, Angle was slightly off, and when Van Dam finally got a chance to throw himself back into things, he blew it...again.

I was legitimately excited about this show, and even an average showing would've sent me squirting for days, but it turned out to be a letdown. Shocking...

Meh.

No Punk wrestling. (they really need a 2 hour show already)

And the main event wiffed much like RVD's vandamninator, and my ability to grasp why he'd attack Angle and Sabu since neither had anything to do with his issues with Show and Heyman.

Bleh.

As annoying as it is that Punk didn't wrestle, I do have to say that it was an awesome promo. It's nice to hear a guy presenting his own originality and being given the freedom to express himself creatively.

What annoys me about the main event is that it's leading to the same crappy booking that Smackdown is usually relegated to. They don't trust any one ECW star enough to give him a title program, so they're going to clump together all their biggest names in a crappy multi-man match for the title on an inter-promotional PPV. That's the Smackdown treatment to a T.
