Let's continue to get to know our fellow CWer's............

I currently am a computer lab aide at a high school.

I was a SAHM for 12 years -worked PT at night for 3 years, then also worked 1 day a week--me and a neighbor swapped babysitting so we each could get out of the house and earn a little $$. But still basically a sahm for 12 years

then I went to 3/4 days a week ( maybe 20-30 hours) at our family business--did that for 3 years
then went 5 days a week for 2 years

then NOTHING the company did a HUGE downscale and I was unemployeed--so last winter/spring i searched and search

in June/July I got 2 jobs--this one one and another one working as a community service officer ( ugh)

I now work 60+ hours a week including travel I am out of the house 70 hours a week--YUCK this year has been terrible

I have the school job for insurance but it is not close to home--I am trying to get one closer so I can quit job #2

I'm a massage therapist.

Hello! :hiya: Can I get the "happy ending"? :giggles:

I have a BA in communication (should really be a BS lol because it's a bullshit, general degree). Worked in HR for a few years then quit when I was preggers with my first kid and have been a SAHM for almost 11 years now.....wasting my life and education if you ask my stepmonster.

I'm not sure what I wanna do when I grow up.

BA in Psychology. Worked for different non-profits in the last 15 years, always with State or Federal programs in the field of early childhood education/mental health/family support. Love it!

Since moving back to FL last year have been doing some grant writing for the same companies I've worked in the past. I can work when I want and be home for DD in the afternoons. I will get back to a full time job (if I can find one!) after this summer.

I have a BS degree with a concentration in Human Resources and work in HR.

Sorry! Hit a nerve! I love having my extra days with my son!

Have I mentioned that it is Friday yet?! :giggles:

Being a mother can be the most underappreciated job!! My mom was a SAHM and I always knew she was there for me. When a kid gets sick at school or whatever he may need you for, there is great comfort in knowing mom can be there. I remember the last year I worked and my ds2 was in school. That was the year he was diagnosed with asthma and it was hard on me. As a teacher I got quite a few sick days, but it was stressful juggling work and a sick child.

What I really notice about this thread - gosh, we have a lot of smart people here. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, but in both mine and dh's family finishing high school is an accomplishment so I tend to be amazed when surrounded by so many with degrees. Dh is the only one of 4 who got his hs diploma, and my (only) brother never finished hs either.

I used to work in sales (beauty supplies). Now, my full time job is sort of sales/customer service. I sell appointments for plastic surgeons all over the country. Most of the procedures are elective. You would not believe the men who want penis enlargements! I work in a factory part-time (around 25 hours a week). I work in the Quality/Inspection department. Mostly, I order the raw material and make sure the products are shipped out on time.I am gone from 6:00 am until 10:30 pm.

Currently a SAHM of 4 -- I have an undergraduate degree in Nursing and a Masters of Science in Nursing -- worked as a staff nurse in critical care until I finished my Masters and worked as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in a critical care unit until I had my kiddos -- I also used to write medical related articles for publication, I stopped writing after my 3rd child was born, just didn't have the time for it. I would love to be back at work someday, just not sure that it would be a good option at this time with the ages of the kids and figuring out childcare issues and the expenses associated with it.

Started couponing 1 1/2 years ago and it has saved my family and put food on the table when dh lost his business last year. We still have a very tight budget and I can't wait for the day to have things ease up a little bit ( I should just keep dreaming, right?) -- but I will ALWAY coupon and can't imagine ever paying full price for anything again.

Yeah my stepmonster is a piece of work all right. She is all about female power...yada, yada. She has one daughter and only stayed home with her for a couple weeks and hated that. Of course she had HUGE problems with her daughter when she got older because she didn't pay attention to what she was up to.
When I was a junior in college I got preggers (me and DH, but before we were married). She wanted me to get an abortion...hounded me for weeks about it telling me it would ruin my life. I ended up miscarrying at 3 months. :surrender:

Her and my Dad wonder why my kids have NEVER spent one minute at their house without me. They even **** to people that I won't let their grandsons spend the night. **** no I won't, not with your warped perceptions. :ranting:

Imagine if you worked in a factory MAKING the penis enlargements!:lol::lol:

"How was your day, dear?" "Oh honey, it was great! We made a very unusual penile implant today, for the man who want's his lady to have everything -- it's a double pipe!":giggles::giggles: (for those of you who are wondering about this, just do a search in off topic and you will find out)

The doctors I work with only do the width, not the length.... One actually uses some sort of fat transfer with the donor being a cadaver. Usually the man hangs up by the time I say that.

Also, the men who want laser hair removal for their entire body.... all I can say is pervert!!!!! and no DNA left behind.

My hubby shaves down town so that I don't end up with fur balls when doing what I advocate.

Mongolia!!!! How superexciting!!! Do you have family there?

I have worked a plethora of jobs in the past. Waiting tables, bartending, office jobs. This fall I am going back to school for idk what. Probably something in the healthcare field.

My sister, her husband, and my niece Penelope (in my signature) live there where they work for Samaritan's Purse. Penelope will be six months old so I'm really excited to see her. I haven't seen her since she was 1 month old.

And NoHio, if I ever hear you call yourself a "nothing" again I will yell. Young lady, you are not a nothing. You are just seeking out your something, and that's hard work. Please don't disrespect yourself like that!

:shesaid:

YOU have the singularly most important job in the world dont you? RAISING KIDS?!!?! youare NOT a NOTHING:hurt:

then she is an AUNTIE!! and a wife right!?! still important jobs!! anyone who has to be support services to a husband or SO KNOWS its not an easy job!

ok i am soooooooooooo striking out on the AMP her up thing here!

You used to sell books on eBay, didn't you? (I may be getting people confused here) I always found that to be really interesting.

I learned something wonderful from a man who was selling books out of his garage. He was missing part of his leg and one of his arms from the elbow, wore incredibly thick glasses. He was one of the most joyful people I had ever met. Someone like that could just curl up and have a pity party, but he didn't. He and his wife liked to read a lot, so he turned it into a business. Not sure how much he made at it, but he was a really neat guy. We spent an hour just chatting with him. I need to go back this summer and see if he is still going.

Sorry to go off topic there.

Kinda :giggles:

But the point is, nobody is a nothing!

NoHio needs to go read "Horton Hears a Who" to Penelope, and I mean REALLY read it.

"Don't give up! I believe in you all.
A person's a person, no matter how small!"

Thanks, guys. I didn't see this until now. Yes, I sold books online. I've kind of taken a break from that for awhile. I really feel like I can't do anything though. I can't finish college; I can't get a job. I'll probaby never get married. Well, I will have to get a job at some point, but it won't be a very good job. I don't care about that though, as long as I don't hate it.
