Teenagers....BLEH!!!!!!!!
DS16 got mostly D's last semester so I made up a contract for him regarding grades, behavior and privileges.
It included requiring all homework to be turned in and grades of over C on all tests to have access to weekend internet on ipod and weekend xbox. If he got lower grades, he had to go in to the teacher or tutoring center for extra help.
He got a D on two quizzes and an F on a test last week, and so he missed them last weekend. He went in for extra help in the classes with the D's but not the one with the F. I reminded him a couple of times this week, but he did not do it.
He IS getting one A and 2 high B's, which is an improvement overall. And, he has turned in all his homework up to this point.
This morning, he asks me can I get his xbox controller out, since I will be gone when he gets home from Basketball.
I say "no" and so we get into an enormous fight (mostly him being frustrated, shouting, pounding desk... I didnt say much) about what is he supposed to do at the "extra help" since they go over the test in class and he understands what he did wrong and they have another test today so there wont be any homework and what's he supposed to do, its such a waste of time, "you havent made it clear what you want me to do" even though I said go over old homework, go over tests, do new homework, do ANOTHER class homework just GO because I TOLD YOU TO!!!!!!!
This is the same one who wants me to sign him up for driver's Ed this spring. I had spent more than an hour earlier in the week talking with DH about what our requirements would be for him to sign up, but I had not yet talked with him about it.
This really convinces me that you're safe in my car.
