so what are you thinking right now?

Parent teacher conferences.
I play teacher today.

How do parents really not know their child is failing in 8th grade? they seem surprised.

As the parent of a sophmore boy who chooses to do very little homework or study and therefore is getting D's in two core classes, I DREAD going to conferences on Thursday. I am an involved parent that harps every day about homework, that checks his grades every single day, that some times sits down and watches him complete his homework yet I get to go to conferences and sit and listen to the teachers "yell" at me b.c my son chooses to not turned the completed assignments in. Hmmmmm....maybe they need to have student/teacher conferences???

You know the electric candles you put in the window for Christmas time? Are those only Christmas decorations? Or would it be okay to put up early?

My almost 13yo does the same thing! He does the work (usually) but then doesn't hand it in. I keep telling him he's only cheating himself..............why do the work on time, but then settle for late (discounted) grades?! :dunce:

No red, that would be dorky.

I got 3, 8 ft. tall banana trees today at Costco. They had them on sale for $11.99!!! $50.00 or more at Home Depot! :cartwheel:

Billy's conference the teacher told us how deep of a thinker he is. She said his comprehension is fantastic and his math skills are at the top of the class...

but timed tests he doesn't do well in because he takes his time and thinks.

She said he can give her 6 different ways to solve a math problem...

What do they want to improve/help my son? Stop reading complex books with him and focus on speed. She said to have him read books that he can easily read repeatedly on his own so he can get his fluency down..... So you want me to dumb it down for him and encourage him NOT to think... Hmmmm... We have enough of those in this country, they are called government. I would rather he actually grows in depth. not speed.

I understand your District/State scores/placement are bad and you want to improve that...but that does not HELP my child.

When did we start focusing more on speed vs. context? :dunce:

UGH! Have to leave for another gyne appt. in 15 min. So NOT looking forward to it after the last debacle! Hope this dude is on time this time and i can be in and out fast! Gonna demand he order an ultrasound even though I DON"T have insurance!

Very thankful DS is with me full time.

Police/ambulance were at ex's apartment yesterday. Long story very short and still finding more out. 2 year old left in ambulance after injesting drain cleaner an hour before the call. I just don't understand how....

After the horse incident last week I know nothing should surprise me anymore.

OMGosh, Missy :huggy:

red... you go right ahead and put that pretty candle out there :bliss:

nanny... so I'm gonna have to pretend I don't know these :quotes:funny:quotes: stories next time I see your DH, huh ? :giggles:

Val I quit caffeine prolly a year or so ago. Now if I have some I get very sick for a couple of hours. :surrender:

I normally have my one cup of Keurig coffee in the morning and I'm set for the day. Didn't sleep good last night so I decided to brew a small pot of coffee this morning. Only had 1.5 cups but that **** is stronger than the Keurig. YIKES!

:kitty::kitty::kitty:

He did WHAT??!! I'm going to call him right now and set him straight!

Boom shaka laka baby

Don't have to worry about that! Maybe, just maybe he is bored to tears with See Spot Run.

I am not interested in raising someone who is encouraged to not think.

You can encourage him to think and help him work on his fluency. Why does it have to be all or nothing? Timed tests are going to be part of his life unless you home school or get him an IEP.
