We just tallied up the cost of DS's birthday party. DH took $300 out of the bank this morning and told me he has $16 left. THEN he tells me that he put the food on the CC which was about $80ish bucks. Plus we bought tons of game tokens so we spent about $400 on the party. :faint:
There were 12 kids and the wrist bands for them to play lazer tag and go carts were $20 each. **** we're doing something wrong!!! :surrender:

Or something right Rebecca! - you said they had an awesome time and I bet ds was thrilled with his party.
With a basement like yours that would be fun...messy but fun!
True, they did have a blast! Last year DS struggled a little socially for the first time in his life...........not sure why. But this year is much better and ALL the "cool" boys from school showed up (I wasn't sure that a couple of them would). :cartwheel:
I think you should feel great about this expenditure. In the end all you can do with money is spend it--and frankly if he is at that sort of turning point and all the popular kids came and he wasn't sure they would and then he threw a kickass party it really could have lasting consequences for his position in the pack and his happiness in the next few years. It probably shouldn't be that way, but it is. Good for you -- and good for your son!
I doubt they will sleep much, MrsMom. :giggles: I don't think boys care too much about sleeping conditions. Area rug, sleeping bags & blankets all over the place & you should be good.
I'm a big fan of the "house party."
Just curious if Gingerballs is the clingon. :giggles:
Hope all goes well today. Looking forward to new pics!
There is an easy way to solve this......just don't have friends![]()
I'm sorry, that came across wrong. She makes fun of me because my house is usually pretty clean. Not always "eat off the floor" clean, but pretty clean. Her house mostly looks like a bomb hit it, but she is always doing stuff for others instead of her own family. I like to have fun too, but when I always have the mess to clean up and it always goes past my bedtime it irritates me. I think I'm getting old and crabby. I just don't have the energy anymore and it woud be nice to go to someone elses house, eat, drink have laughs and 10pm oops, my bewitching hour....goodnight! Even when I repeatedly yawnnnnnn they don't get it. Blood dripping from my eyes and glazed over and the conversation just drones on and on. Then the 30 minute goodbye at the door. Get the hell out already. I'm done now and feel better. Had to get that out.

We had a party about 15 years ago and we had a friend stay until 5 am! :faint:I didn't want to have to say :gtfo: so I sat up talking with him. My lovable dh said, goodnight and went to bed. I was so pissed off that he did that to me. I lived on a very quiet street with little traffic tucked away in a subdivision. He was completely smashed, but driving wasn't an issue because he lived across the street. I put his **** out the door at 5 am. His wife told me he didn't get home until 7am. When we talked to him he was  saying he was too afraid to cross the street for fear of being hit by a car, so he stood at the curb trying to cross for 2 hours. We laughed our asses off.
Why are people so inconsiderate sometimes? My BIL and his girlfriend are flying in from New York next week. They are flying into Milwaukee in order to save a few bucks on airfare but want DH to drive up to the airport there to pick them up. Their flight gets in at 8:00 a.m. If DH can't pick them up, they want my 70 year old MIL to drive up there to pick them up. I haven't been out that way in a long time but I'm guessing it would be at least a 2.5 hour (probably 3 hour) round trip drive not to mention the cost of gas! They refuse to arrange for any other type of transportation.
I'm sorry but how is it okay to inconvenience other people BIG TIME in order for you to save a couple of bucks??? Typical of my BIL, he is basically an overgrown 45 year old child who thinks only of himself. And now he has caused a major argument between DH and me over this!
They will often stay with us for a day or two and he is a vegetarian and she eats a gluten free diet which makes things difficult too but it is this other thing that is really pissing me off.
Arrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!
A place to debate everything and anything!
