It aint a big thing here in Australia, most people wouldnt even remember its Halloween. But because I have alot of American friends who tell me all about their Halloween fun, I started to get into it a bit.
A few years back I took my son Sam and newphew Jack and niece Sydney trick or treating. Not many people had anything for them - cause as I said, most didnt even realize it was halloween - so they gave them money instead of lollies. Trust me the kids did not complain. LOL
The next year Sam, Jack and Syd were joined by our neighbours kids, Jason, Troy and Guy. They had a blast and got themselves some treats and some money.
The following year they were joined by more kids. Sam, Jack and Syd had talked some of their friends into coming along.
Last year, we got into it even more. The kids actually dressed up in costumes and more and more people in town were ready with lollies for the kids. And more and more kids wanted to go trick or treating and join in the fun.
This year the kids are all excited about going again. I put a notice in our towns weekly newsletter encouraging people in town to get into the Halloween spirit and have some treats on hand for the kids, and even a note asking the more adventurous to plan a few tricks for the kids. I know alot more kids are joining in this year, and alot of them are planning on dressing up in costumes.
This year at our house we are going to have Halloween (the movie) playing, scary music coming from computers, going to have someone dressed in scary costume sneak up behind kids that knock on door and I have even been thinking about trying to make my first jack-o-lantern. Maybe even make them bob for apples if they want their treat...lol
I am pretty proud of myself that I have bought a little of the Halloween fun to our town.
