The Confabulation Thread - Part 2

This is the last thing I'm going to say on this matter and I definitely don't intend this to be rude, but you guys aren't the only ones who have problems. I have GAD (anxiety disorder), clinical depression, and now, chronic fatigue. I've been dealing with all of this for months. I understand that you guys are upset, I really do, but lashing out like this is driving people away and you don't want that. I understand the feelings of insecurity, the feelings of inadequacy, all of that. I understand feeling like you're going crazy. I understand the pain and the tears and the frustration that doesn't go away, but just remember that we all have things that we're dealing with and things might not always go your way.

I'll shut up now as I don't want to carry on. I care about both of you and I don't want a repeat incident of TF.

Guys...just saying but you're not helping either. I don't think any of you have any idea how upset we are. I've already had tears and I just need us to try and be more understanding.
None of you know what happened in staff, so I'd at least ask you don't make judgements on that.
Otherwise, I appreciate any constructiveness.

Not sure if meme was posted to fuel the fire or legitimately be just as rude back.
You're not any better by retaliating.

Can we just stop?
Kirk said that because he's upset not to be a ****, he isn't a **** else I wouldn't be stupid enough to date him. Kirk can be blunt, but he's being so for a reason, even if its the wrong way to go about it.
I posted it to incite more, because honestly I'm finding it hilarious now. Upset or not, his actions in this thread and others (two other threads today I've seen him badmouthing former staff and members) when they've done nothing to warrant that kind of rudeness and arrogance. I am judging based solely on what I have seen, which is;

-His rudeness towards members for not "pulling their weight"
-His maniacal demotion of all the staff, excluding administration (even though he admitted himself the third administrator is rarely online)
-His inability to accept criticism
-His hot-headedness when under so-called pressure

These are all facts. I do not know what went on behind the scenes, nor do I particularly care to, since from the looks of it the ex-staff are pretty pissed off too. The "angst" over the forum has been visible for weeks, because whenever something deemed rude is said, Kirk reacts in a similar fashion. That is not an example for an administrator to set to his members. If the staff are unwilling to follow the rules, why the hell should the members?

Put simply, I don't believe he's mature enough. I don't care if "I wouldn't date him if he was a ****" because people can act wildly differently towards different people. It's a personality trait.

If this is deemed rude, I can assure you it is not. Phossix knows how I am when I am rude.

It does not mean the members deserve this treatment.
Again, I have no qualms against you, or Kirk really, despite his behaviour. In fact, I really like Kirk. He seems great. As are you, Lauren! It's just this outburst is grotesquely unfair, and problematic.

Kirk is blaming everyone for the site. Himself, the Staff, and the members.
My posts are not to discourage Kirk.

These posts are me trying to warn Kirk that his behaviour will be a huge blow to Confab-It.
If he continues this, he's liable to alienate more and more people. And the longer it takes, the more people will start to leave.

This was a site for being able to feel welcome - to not have to put up with flack. That was you and Kirk's vision for this site, right?
And yet, Kirk seems to forget this, and has launched an attack on everyone. In the end, this site is beginning to droop into the thing that Kirk sought out to combat.

And no, Kirk. What the **** happiness would it bring if you left?
Stop beating yourself up over it.

You seem to have some severe self-confidence issues. I have them. But you're taking to a whole new plane of severity. Please, for the love of God, seek help. This is not a crack, this is not a joke. I am being serious. I'm concerned.

I wanted to say I'm sorry for my burst earlier. Whilst I am shocked at the rushed actions from the admins, I can also imagine how it can be frustrating to administrate a forum being boyfriend and girlfriend, specially in a LDR.
But there are better ways to deal with activity changes, and throwing the problem aside is not one, nor shoving the rest of the staff down like they did nothing or took too long to do it, nor blame it on members possibly on vacation. We had good advertising plannings going on, but I reckon August is not the best month to get registrations.

Kirk above all is the fuel to Confab-It. He's obviously researched a lot, and has invested time and effort into this forum, aside Lauren. And it went very far for a forum that doesn't even have 5 months. The amount of stress? It's considerable. Still not a reason, but it often overpowers any other feeling.
It's his ultimate decision about what to do with CI afterall. But let's not forget the amount of effort he put into our forum, not to mention the money. So please stay polite, at the very least.

Who even likes him it's all about the J.K Rowling

So a bear walks into a bar and says "Hey I'd like a vodka....... Coke" and the bar man says "Why the big pause?" And the bear said "They run in my family".

My Dad told me that one a few weeks back. I just looked at him with disgust.

Kirk. I think that both you and Lauren are great people. Both of you have put a lot of effort in to building the site, now it appears that you are intent on destroying it.
This is the impression you are giving us.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the staff are all volunteers who gave of their time freely to help.
I have seen some excellent members and some very good posts. The site was developing into something special and does not deserve to die.

All the staff and members have a real life and can only contribute when they can, Many factors are involved in the activity on a site at any given time.
I have seen older and newer members post and help in their own way to make Confab-it a success and they deserve kudos for this.

You mention about experienced admins. You have been offered the help of a very experienced admin, but so far there has been no response?

The site can grow and become all that you wish it to be but the way you are operating at the moment will not make it so. A radical change needs to take place for it to grow and realise its full potential.

As I see it there are three clear choices. 1- sell it and walk away.
2- Continue as we are and let it die a natural death.
3- Work to build it up into a great and large site.

If you choose option three then you need to be fully committed and do the things necessary to build Confab-it into a fantastic site.

I am prepared to help you but not to failure, I am too busy to work on a site that is headed for fail.

Together you and the members pulling together can make it work. But it needs a firm commitment from you to kick start things.

We don't want to destroy the site.

The frustration and anger built up over so long and so much that the original start of this probably seemed really irrational to other people. We get that, we get we seemed over the top and silly but as Marie kindly did, we just need people to take into consideration exactly what we deal with just as much as what you're dealing with.

We know staff have lives etc but the point is that so do we but myself and Kirk still manage at least an hour on the forum a day. Nobody else did anywhere near that much and there were lots of times that every single staff member was gone.
To add; they may volunteer but they volunteer for hard work. I'm a mod on another site. I don't get paid but I put just as much effort into it as I do with CI.
If people who apply for staff have busy lives, they should not apply if they can't find time for the site, simple. We don't ask for much, honestly, I can even post staff checklists if you desire. Only a couple of people made the effort for a little while when me and Kirk were gone.
I was very disappointed and felt really let down.

I have an incredibly busy and stressful life, but I manage. All I needed was for people who'd volunteered to do so to help us out more so than they were. Bowie got those rank titles done within a day, a member did that without us having to ask and I appreciate that.
If we remove staff it isn't out of spite, we just didn't want the CR rank anymore and not a lot was being done. Simple as that, we didn't expect to be met with hostility because anyone in staff could understand why we did it.

The community deserve a big thanks. I'm so grateful that CI has gotten here in merely a few months and we have all of you to thank and I'll never doubt that. All we worried about was losing the site, everyone seems to have the mentality that we can just let it grow on its own and actually no it's taken hours of hard work to get some members here, it's taken ages of work on my part for designing/drawing artwork, and Marie who's done some lovely work too.
We already work extremely hard and then to see barely any posts on the forum is really upsetting and two people can only come up with so many thread ideas. I mean we have huge post counts merely from trying to keep the thing alive. Sometimes I've replied to almost every single thread on this entire forum.

The work is stressful, it's caused stress in my relationship, it's caused stress in my life dull stop and as much as I appreciate what you guys are saying, we also need people who volunteer lots of time. If you're busy there's no point in committing yourself to a site who need you daily. We don't want to be those teen sites that just have their friends as mods and staff and not demote them because they're our friends. We've been on a site like that and it's a recipe for disaster.

We've only ever made decisions that we thought were in the best interests of the site.
We had a lot of commitment which means we had to make decisions we didn't want to make. We didn't WANT to demote people but we did if we felt it wasn't working and we didn't just keep them just because we liked them as people.

We love our friends and sadly I feel like all this is just making rifts when it shouldn't.
It may be for the best we sell the forum if it means we can focus on our relationship but I suppose me and Kirk will talk that over.

Thanks for your post Wizard :) you were really constructive +1 rep.
You're proof you don't have to be rude.
