Our first Tropical Storm Warning!!! Winds are picking up here and expected to sustain around 50 mph on Friday.
Could be worse, Ennui. They could close up a ton of public housing near you & send the majority of the people who were living there to your town. That will make the millionaires leave & crime start to increase, while your RE taxes continue to go up as the value of your home goes down. That's what happened/is happening here. Our HS parking lot used to look like a luxury car dealership, with the kids driving cars way nicer than the teachers cars. Now you can't tell which is a student car & which is a teacher car.
I thought you were talking about my town lol. Anyone want a house for less than $30,000?
But really, Jackie, what are you going to do? I think we are going to list ours during DD14's sophomore year. I think it will take a couple years to move it & I don't want to be here one second more than I need to be. My neighbors drive me insane. I'm trying to convince DH to buy new appliances to sell with the house because I want to take ours with us.
If it doesn't sell I think we will rent it out & look for a rental ourselves. My friend rents a darling little house in our town and she's moving in a couple years. I kind of want to take over her rental. We could rent ours for more than our mortgage & rent hers for way less than our mortgage.
I scratched my eye really bad around 11pm last night attempting to cut a stick in half for a class i'm teaching. There were two little woodchps in my eye that dh was able to get out, but now i'm desperately waiting for an eye place to open so i can have someone look at it! And the kids could care less that my eye is in so much pain
well dh is currently toying with the idea of owning 2 houses and either attempting to rent (i'm afarid it will get trashed) or just sitting on this one for awhile. Or possibly just walking away (so many of my neighbors have done that, moved to bigger better places and are super happy) I don't know how all that works though.
We really want to move (we need space!) but with so many empty houses that are being bought for under $30,000 and flipped we can't possibly compete!
Ugh! That's sounds awful, Jackie! Eye pain is such terrible pain, too. I hope you are ok. :huggy:
A place to debate everything and anything!
