so what are you thinking right now?

I scratched my eye really bad around 11pm last night attempting to cut a stick in half for a class i'm teaching. There were two little woodchps in my eye that dh was able to get out, but now i'm desperately waiting for an eye place to open so i can have someone look at it! And the kids could care less that my eye is in so much pain

PLEASE go to an ER right away...do not take a chance on this...really would hate for you to lose your eyesight in that eye..eye injuries can be very serious!

Agree on the ER. When DD3 was little I put her on my shoulders to walk around once, and she reached over my head and scratched my eye. Waited until bedtime witht he pain, hoping it would go away. Eventually went to ER in the middle of the night.

The pain med they gave me helped so much. They gave me some meds, It healed on its own, but I NEEDED the ER trip to get over the excruciating pain.

Hope you've found some help by now.

Not sure if this can help anyone in IL, but an old high school friend posted this on Facebook

(His name) Chuck Provenzano:

Put my **** shirt on inside out. Good think I glanced as I walked by the mirror and I saw a little white tag on my side sticking up. The people at Olive Garden could have had a laugh...or it might be in style??? FYI,
you can NOT flip a navy shirt back to the good side and wear it outside. The deodorant marks give you away!!! :surrender:

I finally found cat treats that Molly & Daisy really seem to like. I used to leave them some treats and the next day there'd still be a bunch of them left. Picked up a bag of Friskies Crispers recently and they both love them. Everytime I leave some in a bowl, they're gone when I go out and check. (No, Sophie's not getting into them - they're up high.)

I was starting to think my cats were the only treat-resistant kitties around.

I just sent my resume in to a craigslist job listing. :gasp:

I'm sure I won't hear back, but it would be perfect. Same town I live in & part time. DH will be alarmed.

So I go on vacation last week. They split my job up between 3 people. It's Thursday and I am still trying to catch up. I even stayed 4.5 hours late Tuesday to try to get a little done. My supervisor won't approve any more overtime for me this week. Yet my coworker is sitting at his desk playing on the phone and talking and playing on company Internet. Not complaining I like my job. But **** didn't anyone do my job while I was gone

do you free-feed or do you give them a limited amount of food at mealtimes? We don't free-feed and they're ALL very interested in treats. Jody also likes a Cheerio or two; maybe it's the crunchy? or the novelty of it? not sure.. Spot will get a small piece of chicken or cheese (tiny, really) as an occasional treat from me because he's so cute. Sometimes they like a piece of popcorn too; sometimes not.

good luck!

We have our last childbirth class tonight. The class started out with 8 couples. One dropped out last week (had their baby a little early). Another one is 38 weeks now and she had contractions last week (possibly BH), so we'll see if she is there tonight. I'm 15 years older than she is :giggles:. DH and I are like the senior citizens in the class. Jeez, at high school graduation everyone is going to think we're the grandparents

I'm used to being among the youngest of my kids' friends parents. Last week DD14 & I were talking about the new kids & she said, "Wow Mom, now you'll at least be the same age as all of the other parents!" You're better off. When DD18 was 5 & I was 23, the other mommies didn't exactly embrace me as Room Mother. :p

glad i've still got the geek in me... Just set up my parents laptop so I could use it to connect by wifi on the ipad and iphone... Whew I feel so much better now...no worry about data roaming!

thanks, but I think there are advantages both ways. As a younger mom, you have teenagers when you are younger, which probably helps a lot in relating to them and knowing what they're thinking and going through. Younger = more energy, too. You get an empty nest earlier and can travel with just you and your honey at a younger age. And let's face it, statistically, younger moms have less chance of complications, birth defects, and a greater chance of being around to see more generations born into the family.

Think you're having a bad day..................

A Michigan man is battling meningitis after receiving tainted steroid injections with his wife, who died Sept. 30 from the same infection.

George Cary, 65, and his wife Lilian, 67, had spinal injections of methylprednisolone acetate for back and neck pain in August, the Associated Press reported. The drug was later linked to a multistate outbreak of fungal meningitis that has killed 24 people.

"I am feeling much better," Cary told the AP Wednesday after three days of intense intravenous antifungal treatment. "The doctors will monitor liver and kidney function and how well I respond to the side effects."

As many as 14,000 people received injections of the suspect steroid, made by the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Mass. More than 300 people in 18 states have contracted fungal meningitis or joint infections from the tainted shots. Michigan has been hit hardest with 80 cases, including five deaths, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

After his wife's death, Cary had a spinal tap to test for signs of meningitis, which affects the membranous lining of the brain and spinal cord. The test came back negative. But days later, Cary developed subtle signs of the disease, including head and neck pain, sensitivity to light and slurred speech, according to his daughter, Jill Bloser.

"I really didn't think he was going to have it, because of how much time has passed," Bloser told the Detroit Free Press, alluding to the monthlong gap between her father's injection and the onset of his symptoms. "I really thought he was in the clear."

The risk of meningitis is highest in the first 42 days following a tainted injection, according to the CDC. Any patient who received a tainted shot has been urged to report any symptoms.

Bloser said her father is doing well and even "joking with the nurses" at an undisclosed Michigan hospital.

"He sounds good, and he feels pretty good," she told the Detroit Free Press. "I know he's tired."

Nanny, have you looked into this again? I know you tested negative, but you're making me nervous having had the shot & now not feeling well. :huggy:
