She got into the high school academy for math, science and technology in our school district. After the open house we found out it is mostly engineering based and she is not interested in that (she talks about possibly being a surgeon - but that's a long ways away). It is also a lot more work but should pay off with more scholarships and better colleges. Now she doesn't want to go. Did I mention that she is lazy? She skates through and does very well so she doesn't want to have to work. Would it be wrong to bribe her with a car if she goes (and does well and tries hard)? She will be old enough to get her permit in September?

(We won't buy her a new Corvette or anything liike that!)

i do not call that a bribe at all. it is incentive to apply herself to an achievable goal. happy for you and the gifted ones.

I was a stupid patient.

Was sound asleep when I was violently woken up by stabbing head pain through my right eye & upper right front quadrant of my skull at 3am Monday. Gave myself the "is this the worst headache you've EVER had in your entire life" question. I was also nauseous as hell. Decided it was hell, but not THE worst...maybe the next to worst. Instead of calling an ambulance, I called my HMO's emergency number and as per their suggestion, took 2 apap/codeine pills with an order to call 911 if I felt no relief with 40 min. [Luckily I fell asleep in 25 very very long minutes] .I really didn't think I could tolerate the long bumpy ambulance ride unless absolutely necessary. They scheduled me to see my pcp a few hours later. Come that appointment, my doc went into overdrive... she had me in the MRI machine within 20 minutes.





Let me take a minute to be very clear...if you ever, ever feel you are suffering from a headache that is the worst pain you've ever had in your life, do not pass go, do not do anything but call 911 & get your butt in the back of an ambulance flying to the nearest Emergency Department. Your life may depend on it.





Anyway, at this moment I'm on antibiotics, still waiting for the MRI report [which I'm assuming was negative or the doc would have called me last night], most of the blood labs are back, have a supply of painkillers, & feel tired as heck... my guess is a severe sinus infection but not sure until I see the MRI results.

Do what I do. If I don't have results in a few hours, I go to medical records late at night and request a copy of the records for the specialist I am going to see tomorrow. For my DD's last MRI after quite a few failed spinal tap attempts, my pedi (who is wicked awesome yet people fear her) did not have the results yet. That would work if I had the MRI at RIH, TMH, or any hospital. But I had it done at one of those standalone MRI centers affiliated with my HMO.

my main sitter that has been with me for about 3-4 years just let me know that she got a job and starts immediately. she told me this via email........... makes me sad that after all these years she could not have picked up the phone to tell me this news??

to her defense she let me know yesterday in person that she had the interview today and it was possible she would start immediately and she feels bad about leaving me with no notice. I am just sad she couldn't tell me this latest news on the phone.


and I promised the kids tostadas tonight and when I went to start making, I find I have no taco seasoning. My DH failed to tell me that he used the last packet so now I have to run to the store with all 3 kids to get taco seasoning.

not my day....................
 
so sorry hun. hoping something good comes up for a sitter real soon, hugs
 
TY. I do too. I need to find someone willing to work 1 or 2 days a week for 8 hrs at a time to cover my work schedule. Either that or I am forced to work every weekend which will really suck for family time.

maybe she didn't tell you she got the job in person because she thought that she might cry too? She's probably attached to your family.
 
Wow wcjost that was rude of her not to tell you she was looking for a job. I realize that once she got one she may have to start right away, but she could have at least told you she was looking or thinking about looking so that you could start to think about options.

I hope she doesn't need a good reference from you in the future........just sayin'.
 
i thought that too, but figured she would have stated that in the email if that was the case.

She didn't get one last fall except for a 1 day a week thing...so figured I had her thru this school year. Well someone never returned this semester at the school she teaches the 1 day a week and she found out yesterday that she had an interview today and they hired her on the spot.

OOOOHHHHHHHh I see.........that's different. Well I assume she's fab with your kids or else you wouldn't have had her watch them...........so mebbe it is that she was worried about getting too emotional so she sent the email to drop the news and will call with a follow up. :9:

Good luck finding someone. I would watch your 3 lil boogers if you lived closer. :cartwheel:

the GOOD thing is that the boys get to gear up at a firehouse next door to the rink, so at least the paramedics are nearby .... sigh

Yeah, I don't have ill-will towards her for getting the job and the situation. I am actually happy for her on that regard. Just a little sad about the delivery method. She knows sometimes I am late in checking them.

I used to watch my former neighbors lil ones once in a while when her sitter was sick or busy (for free)..........it was fun! :hiphip:
I miss reading cute lil books to tots. :pout:
