Just because he & SIL went to their lawyer today to update their wills [which was fine, their kids are too old now to need me as guardian & executor], why did he need to get on my case to get our folks to update their wills?
I know they need to get a lawyer to put their home in trust before that 5 yr clock can start if G-d forbid one of them needs a nursing home.
But I hate thinking about it. :cry1: Just thinking about makes me so upset I feel like I'm going to vomit.out:

according to Dave Ramsey that is NOT a good idea something about your tax basis now you own there home so if they pass 5 years and you sell it you pay taxes from the value now not when they pass (something like that) I know he advises against it
Interesting. I'll look into it. If we're penalized anything, MIL would pay it................she's doing fine financially.

it just makes your tax liability start now instead of why they pass, like if they pass in 15 years you owe taxes starting in 2012 instead of 2027 when you sell the home
