This is a toy at Costco/etc. However, the future of karaoke will be a commercial version. Most likely provided by Coke or Budweiser and powered by one of the vendors listed above.

Things like this are already taking a large bite out of the "Bar DJ" business. Many bars are doing iPod nights. Eliminating the DJ is a logical business move (not that I'm happy about that..it just is). I'm guessing that fully automated karaoke systems aren't far behind. If Sound Choice...

I think they should have standards set for the participants as well. Like being able to sing on key.

Honestly, if I did karaoke, I would have burned all my SC discs by now and boycotted them. I thinks it's time to sing a different tune.

I'm guessing they are assuming that most people are running off of the physical discs. If that were the case, having multiple instances of popular tracks would make them easier to access. Maybe?
